Balam Jungle Estates consists of approximately 37,000 Acres. The property is situated in the southeast corner of the Corozal District, just south of where the Yucatan Peninsula greets the Caribbean Sea. The property is composed of important ecosystems of fresh water, coastal/marine, & tropical broadleaf forest. This property is absolutely vital, being one of the last jungles left in Northern Belize. Balam serves as a vital corridor linking the northern and southern wild areas of Corozal as well as the Caribbean Sea to the east.

Neighbors to Balam Jungle include Shipstern Nature Reserve (~22,000 Acres) to the north & Freshwater Creek Reserve (~29,000 Acres) to the west – both managed by Corozal Sustainable Future Initiative (CSFI) and vital for the protection of jungles and endangered species in Belize.

Bordering Balam Jungle on the west is the new Mennonite Community, Neuland Reinlaender, an active farming community of approximately 11,500 Acres and slightly farther west an additional estimated 54,000 Acres known as “Little Belize” – another Mennonite faring community- who are also building a port on the coast.

Balam’s Eastern border is 10 miles of Caribbean seafront; some of which show potential for development of luxury resorts. San Pedro, Ambergris Caye & Leonardo DiCaprio’s Blackadore Caye lay directly east a few miles off shore. One already a major tourist destination; the other soon to become one. With the port being built, direct access via water will become available.

To the South of Balam Jungle is more forest, private land, small farms and the communities of Bomba, Maskall and Corozalito. The southern road leading to Balam passes through these small communities.

Corozal has an approximate total area of 460,000 acres. An estimated 170,000 (or 36.9%) is developed. Leaving approximately 290,000 undeveloped. Balam Jungle represents 13% of all the remaining wild land left in Corozal.
